Science

We recognise that our children live in an increasingly scientific and technological age and that they need to acquire scientific knowledge, skills and attitudes to better prepare them for modern life.

Even if they our children decide not to pursue a career in science or engineering, the children of St. Alphege will grow up in a world that requires scientific literacy and critical thinking skills, enabling them to make better sense of the world they live in.

Our vision is to provide our children with a science curriculum that enables them to explore and discover the wider world around them, confidently, so that they have a deeper understanding and are able to make connections with other areas of the curriculum.

We realise that young children are naturally curious and passionate about learning and believe that all children can be scientists by following their own natural curiosity. A scientist observes, questions, creates, hypotheses, experiments, records data, and then analyses that data. In our federation, teachers help to facilitate these skills in order for our children to let their light shine.
