Our Values and Ethos

The schools of St Alphege are proud to be fully inclusive; we welcome families representing a diverse and changing community. Within our schools we have pupils representing a number of faiths, ethnicities and cultures. It is this that makes the schools so special. Within our schools we celebrate each individual, recognising that every child is special to God, regardless of background.

Despite doing so well academically, we recognise and promote a rich, broad and exciting learning culture which embraces the arts, sport and extra-curricular provision. Staff take time to understand the strengths and interests of each child and they are signposted to appropriate and relevant opportunities.

Our Junior school proudly boasts the only primary physics lab in the local authority and we welcome children from across the collaborative to share our fabulous facility – our Phiz Lab. Since its completion, the profile of science has rocketed and we were delighted to achieve the silver Primary Science Quality Mark in 2016.

As the only town-centre school, the Infant school enjoys close proximity to a wealth of amenities and these are well used. Whether it is a walk through the park to our Forest School, a visit to church or a trip up the High Street, the children certainly benefit from our locality.

Being part of the St Alphege school community means belonging to our family; and like families, we understand, we value and we nurture each precious individual, whilst preparing him or her for the next stage.
